How much does a dept collection agency pay for bad dept from banks?
Hi I have a personal unsecured dept and am being pursued for it by dept collectors. I don’t own a house or car and and they haven’t caught up with me since 06 when i stopped paying it. im self employed with no work. What should i offer them as i feel its in there interest to settle as you cant get blood out of a stone and im quite prepared to go bankrupt if need be
The first thing I would do, is to ask them to prove that they are authorised to collect this debt. A lot of them aren’t, and they try it on. I have come across of too many debt collection agencies all trying to collect the same debt!
Also, ask them to provide you with the original credit agreement signed by you. Ignore all their protests that they don’t have to provide it etc, it is all hog wash. By law, they do.

Go onto You Tube and type in debt collectors uk and listen to the advice of what they can and cannot do. Far too many of them are nothing more than robbers working on the fringes of the law.
I’m amazed at how many people think they have to deal with these parasites. You don’t, and if you do, always, always, do it in writing. NEVER PHONE THEM because they will say things on the phone that they will never put in writing.
A debt collector works a lot like the mugger. If someone came up to you on the street and said you owed them a £100, would you pay it? No, of course not, so why do people think they have to pay the likes of these bottom feeders.
