What free video software is there that is equal to windows movie maker?

I cant edit my flip videos on windows movie maker because it doesn’t support mp4 and i don’t want to waste time converting everything, i cant find anywhere to download WMM 2.1 because everywhere i go that says download WMM 2.1 it takes me to the same damn microsoft page that tells me to do the update, but it doesnt say anywhere to get WMM 2.1 its taking me back and fourth and im getting nowhere, this is pissing me off.
