Anyone have this job or know someone who does? Can you tell me anything you can about it…likes/dislikes/advice?

You need to know physics, chemistry and a lot about computers. This stuff isn’t done haphazardly like in the old days. Everything is figured out on paper, mathematically, before anything is tried.
Computers are doing a lot of the special effects, nowadays.
