special effect lens

what kind of filter can i buy that is all-around?
i have a canon rebel xti with tamron af 28-300 lens. But its not what i thought it would be. I want special effects on my pictures but i don’t know how. when i use it its the pictures seems that its taken from an ordinary digital camera. i wanna see the picture that i take standout that it really was taken from a dslr.
what kind of filter should i buy?
I use a UV filter on my Rebel XTi… but really it’s all about taking it off AUTO and using the different modes.
Someone wrote a book all about this camera, I actually own it.
It’s called Canon Digital Rebel XTi/400D Field Guide… by I ‘think’ Charlotte Lowrie… not sure I don’t have it near me. It’s the best book that I’ve read since it is directly for the camera that we are talking about.
I’d say really you just need to learn to adjust your aperture and shutter to change the depth of field and movement in the photo.
I though the same thing when I first got the XTi. I was like, why do these look like I used a regular point and shoot, but with time I learned how to work everything and am now taking pictures that turn out much better.
