much do blood banks pay

cord blood banking anyone?
Anyone out there do cord blood banking? just wanted some info on it, like kit costs if their insurance paid for any of it, what cost was monthly out of pay checks for it? that kind of stuff. Any info would be great thanks so much!
Dear #2 – Umbilical blood cord banking in the USA and worldwide has been rapidly growing in the past ten years. Search Google for many web sites. The cost per sample may run to an initial $ 1,000 or more with a further fee) perhaps $100 to $200 for annual maintenance (deep freeze storage) of the sample. Don’t expect insurance to cover any of this. When the blood sample is collected at the time of birth, many tests must be done for different categories of typing. The results are computer stored for instant future reference. The blood cells must then be treated (with glycerol, etc.), frozen (after lyophilization treatment) and results stored in a computer indefinitely (at a continuing price). If, in the future life of the children, there should be a major body organ failure, it would take only seconds on the computer to find a match for organ transplant, or to take the original sample, extract some of its stem cells, and possibly use them as injected seeds to grow a new, needed organ. In theory it’s great. Right now, it’s expensive, but possible for many.
