fake blood with ketchup

How they use so much fake blood?
On movies(espacilly war movies)
How the hell do they use so much fake blood?
And someone told me they used ketchup and someone else said they use some chemicals that look like blood.
But how do they use so much of it? Damn
Like in war movies you got blood squirting everywhere and people puking blood(EWWW)
O.k. There’s different methods of making fake blood. Back in the old’school days of movies they at times did use ketchup watered down.
Then in the 80′s my generation… something similar to Kyro syrup with red food coloring was used, ( simmer it on the stove, then cool). We made “horror” movies when I was high school, and I went on to study film in college.
To show so much of it, there’s different techniques. Since they have bigger budgets they actually use equipment made specifically for this. When I made movies, I used different things. I used ziplock bags as “resevoirs” to hold it on the body, then hook up something like a hand used pump ( kinda like a squirt gun would, pulling the trigger actually works as a pump, so it shoots the water further), same idea. I would pump it as tight as possible, run a “aquarium” tube from the pump to the resevoir, and taped down the tube and covered it with clothing/makeup, and when it’s action time the actor would release to pump, and blood would shoot whereever I had the end of the hose at. The neck, the arms, whereever.
I did one slasher movie where I was getting slashed in a river, so my whole upper body was covered with ziplock backs taped to me, and it was a bloody, sticky mess, but it looked great on video.
fake blood or Delicious Ketchup?
