Clothing – Plagiarised

When talking of alternative clothing the most prevalent forms that come to mind are punk emo and skate clothing.

Punk fashion comprises of clothing, jewelry and body modifications of the punk culture. Punk fashion varies widely from Vivienne Westwood styles to styles modeled on bands like The Exploited Punks-they use clothing as a way of making a statement to appear as confrontational, shocking and rebellious.

They like to dress in offensive tee shirts which feature patches of fake blood and inverted crucifix and the Nazi swastika .Anarchy symbols and deliberately controversial images including portraits of Marx, Stalin and Mussolini were popular as well.  Customized blazers and leather rocker jackets are a fixture of punk clothing.  Along with tapered jeans, tight leather pants and leopard patterns.

The footwear includes military boots and brothel creepers styled shoes and the hair is often dyed bright, unnatural provocative colors.  Some of these hairdos are as extreme as liberty spikes or the Mohawk hairstyle.

Other accoutrements the punk line of clothing or skate clothing will include is studded or spiked jewelry and body piercing worn by some punks included: fishnet stockings (sometimes ripped); silver bracelets and heavy eyeliner are worn by both men and women. Many eccentric women who dress with the punk style rebel against the stereotypical image of a woman by using feminine floral and bright colors and mixing it with other clothing that is considered masculine, such as combining a Ballet tutu with big, clunky boots.

Punk clothing includes everyday objects for aesthetic effect such as garbage bin liners, ripped clothes are held together by safety pins or wrapped with tape; black bin liners (became dresses, shirts and skirts), other items added to clothing or as jewelry included razor blades and chains. Leather, rubber and vinyl clothing are very common; possibly due to their connection with transgress sexual practices.

Emo is commonly stereotyped with tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringes of hair (bangs) brushed to one side of the face or over one or both eyes, dyed black, straight hair, tight t-shirts (usually short-sleeved) which often bear the names of emo bands (or other designer shirts), studded belts, belt buckles, canvas sneakers or skate shoes or other black shoes and thick, black horn-rimmed glasses. This fashion has at times been characterized as a fad.
