fake blood ketchup

Wash out fake blood ideas?
If you are going to say red food coloring and corn syrup, please do not answer. That stains clothing.
Last year I tried a mixture of Crayola’s Washable Fingerpaints with water (mostly red and a little blue). The blood was bright and awesome, but it ended up staining several people’s clothes. So much for being washable.
I am thinking maybe ketchup and water. Has anyone ever had a problem with ketchup staining their clothes? Any alternative ideas?
Anything red can and will stain clothes. Ketchup sounds like it could work, but it can stain clothes, too. They need to be sure to pre-treat the spots where the ketchup is right away and then after they wash it, they need to make sure it all came out before they dry it. Drying clothes sets the stains and it will not come out!
