What materials would I need in order to record my own sound effects for a short movie????
The three types of sound effects are “a hit”, “natural” and “Foley” sounds. I am looking for some advice on what sort of microphones, portable recorders, minidisc (MD), digital audio tape (DAT) or even a simple camcorder would be sufficient to record all the sounds. Once I have the sounds what type of software would I use in order to single out the one sound I am looking for and add it into the movie?

A long time ago …..I was a communications major in college – we had access for all that kind of equiptment and the skills needed to pull together what you are talking about.
I’d search your local university/colleges for a communications department and snag a college student to help. They have access to equiptment (so you don’t have to buy anything) and they need practical experience and references for the future.
Who knows maybe they even need a project for a grade….
Once you’ve found the school – it’s simple enough to find a bulletin board to post your request on. Or you could post on craigslist and find a recent grad who needs referrences…
