Shopping for big people with small wallets in NY?
My husband and I are due to visit New York in April next year. We could both do with refreshing our wardrobes, and we are both in the larger size category. Apart from the obvious ‘go on a diet, fatties,’ where can we go to shop for outsize clothing in New York that won’t break the bank or raise the bank-manager’s blood pressure too much? We do most of our shopping at High and Mighty (him) and Ann Harvey, Evans and Elvi (me) here in the UK, and becaue time is short we want to make the most of it. We’ll be travelling with nearly empty suitcases and living in hope!
I know how you feel, I’m also in the large size category, I’m tall too. May I suggest a clothing store call Casual Male XL. Its a major national retailer, with stores throughout the country and there several located in the New York City metro area. One is located at 291 3rd Avenue at the corner of 22nd Street in the east side of Manhattan. There you can get clothes and shoes for a large size man.
Another large size store I should also suggest is Rochester Big and Tall. One is located at 1301 6th Avenue at 52nd Street, near Rockefeller Center.
As for the lady, may I suggest Lane Bryant located at 34th Street and 5th Avenue. There you can a large selection on plus size women clothing.
